Evaluation and Reflection

Friday 8th March 2024 - This week has been splendid as we went on an amazing trip to Sky Up Academy, I also did plan out what am I going to do for my FMP which I'm really proud of. I also researched some graphic designers to help me with my planning, some of the designers I researched were, Jessica Walsh, Max Huber, and April Greiman.

I haven't done much this week due to health issues, but so far I've finished up my research and timetable along with my proposal. I also was the cameraman for people's pecha kuchas.

Wednesday 08 May

This week I finished my FMP film and I am proud of the filming and editing I've done using Adobe Premier Pro, I couldn't have done this film without the help from my two friends who have offered themselves to act in my movie. This took me 4 days to create, 40% of the time we had to reshoot due to people getting in our shots, but in the end, we successfully finished my movie.

                                                              FMP Evaluation

The theme of this FMP was identity, at first, I did not know what to create or where to start, not until I began to do a lot of research to help me gain ideas and inspiration, which has led me to create something of my own, something that would really demonstrate this theme. After a lot of hard work, I have managed to gratefully finish this FMP.

My Initial Concept

I have started working on two posters and a short film that will show the theme's identity, through creative and interesting methods, I tried to demonstrate a message through my projects, which was showing people about finding your own identity and purpose in life, through trying new things and to spend time alone with your self to pursue self-consciousness and to trust your decisions, this message shows identity by finding your own purpose in life which creates your very own identity.

This FMP was aimed at a demographic of people who are lost in life, not knowing what to do and what steps they should take next, I also made this for people aged 16+ as people below the age of 16 have yet to have any life experience. I have gotten inspiration from some graphic designers I have researched and some film directors who gave me some great ideas for this FMP.

This has helped me progress into a further study that I am interested in which is filming, this FMP has allowed me to film my very own movie which has been a pleasure to create.

My Research and Planning

The research has been the key element of this FMP. I started first with secondary research by browsing the internet to see what ideas I could get, I came across people like Jessica Walsh,  Max Huber, and April Greiman which gave me great potential ideas that I could have used, I also researched opening scenes that have given me the leading edge to the start of my movie. To really finish my research, I have also done some primary research, by going on trips and gathering creative information for this FMP, I have also researched my audience through the surveys that I created which people had kindly taken the time to complete.

The planning was fairly easy as most of it came from the research that I have done. I have planned out my ideas for this FMP in a mindmap format, I have also planned out my posters and how I wanted them to look along with my movie by creating set sketches, I have planned out my script and settings to give me a visualization of what would my film look like.

My audience

I have aimed this FMP towards people who are interested in finding their own purpose in life, I have mainly made this FMP for people aged 16+. I have done a PechaKucha in front of my class, talking about my FMP, there were some positive and negative comments from the class which has led me to believe that my FMP gave people mixed opinions about my planning. I have listened to all the comments and have made adjustments along the way.

I attracted my audience by using creative ways to do so, such as using artistic illustrations to draw attention toward people, I have used bright colours that flowed with each other to create a pleasing look and for my movie, I have used creative camera shots and angles to really make the viewers engaged with the film.

My Learning Experience

Throughout this FMP, I have learned a series of skills that I can use in the future, such as filming and editing skills on Adobe Premier Pro, basic camera operation skills, and Adobe Illustrator skills which have helped me a lot when creating my posters.

My Final Product

These projects that I've worked hard for match up with initial ideas that I had originally planned, which I am really proud of. The most successful thing that went well about my projects was the design, I managed to create my own colour schemes based on inspiration from designers and I created my own designs that I came up with. The unsuccessful part was the struggles that came along the way when filming my movie, I often had to change locations due to unwanted people and crowds in my shots, and also I had to retake multiple shots due to actors breaking character.

The thing that I can improve on the most is the quality of the film by adjusting the focus lens to the right frame, I can also improve the script of my film as some people needed to get the idea that I was trying to depict.

Overall, I had a great time researching, planning and creating this FMP, I am looking forward to filming more as it really made me more interested in making films.
